To create a joystick command for a game, follow these steps...

From the Controller Configurations window, move the mouse over any of the joystick assignment labels then click the left mouse button. The assignment popup menu will appear, containing a list of all the currently existing joystick commands. Click the 'Edit Joystick Commands...' item from the popup menu to display the Edit Joystick Commands window.

Press the 'New' button to add a new joystick command to the list. You will see the 'New Joystick Command' item has been added.

Modify the name of the new joystick command to describe the action it will perform (such as 'Move Character' or 'Look Around').

If you have not already created all of the standard commands that you will need to create the joystick command, you can modify the standard commands now by pressing the 'Commands...' button to display the Edit Commands window. Once you have all of the commands that you need for the joystick command, proceed to the next step.

Click the 'Joystick Left' assignment label to display the assignment popup menu. Select the command that you would like to be fired when the joystick is pressed to the left. Generally this would be a command such as 'Move Left'.

Continue assigning commands to each of the remaining directions, as described above.

In some games, holding a particular key (such as SHIFT) on your keyboard may make your character move faster or slower. For instance, many FPS games will cause your character to run when the SHIFT key is held down. In this scenario, you could create a "run" command and assign it to the 'Tilt Above' advanced setting, so that the "run" command is automatically fired when you push the joystick all the way forward. This allows you to achieve 2 different speeds (walk & run) depending on how far forward you tilt the joystick. Press the 'Advanced' button to display the Advanced Joystick Command Settings window, if you wish to setup this feature.

Press the 'OK' button to close the Edit Joystick Commands window. The new joystick command is now ready and can now be used in your configurations.
