    Arrow Oblivion: Elder Scrolls IV

    Installation Notes.
To Make this Profile work correctly you have to modify the Oblivion.ini file in order to disable in game joystick support. heres how. (the file is located in My Documents\My Games\Oblivion folder) Open the Oblivion.ini file in Notepad, and find the line "bUse Joystick=1". Change that line to read "bUse Joystick=0". Save the file and exit.

Make sure to use the default controls within Oblivion.

    ================================================== ==============================

I have released a new profile for Oblivion to replace my previous Oblivion profile.

I was Never satisfied with the way my previous profile handled this game's journal and menus, in addition to some other things and I wanted to fix.
There are lots of little improvements here and there to enhance the profile's playability. I'll try and describe the most important ones.

    1. The Games Menu and Journal now are completely navigable with the left analog stick except where the game requires you to use the mouse cursor to select something. The left and right shoulder buttons will toggle the inventory / Journal pages

    2. The mouse cursor works with the right analog stick. you will want to use this mouse cursor when dropping Items from your inventory / journal.
Simply move the mouse cursor over the item you wish to drop and press the right trigger. if you want to grab the item and place it in the environment you can hold the right trigger and while doing so, place the item with the right analog stick.

    3. If you press down on the right analog stick and move the stick forward or backward, you can adjust the zoom level for the 3rd person view.

    4. The joystick sensitivity, dead zones etc have all been updated and many other aspects of the controls have been fine tuned for maximum playability.

I'm sure I'm missing something but your just going to have to play this profile and get a feel for it yourself.

Keep in mind that this profile contains many custom commands that are hidden from the command list in order to keep things from getting to complicated. Because of this, if you decide to change the controls, there is a good chance you will not be able to restore the profile to its defaults
    without reimporting it.

UPDATE: I have released a improved Oblivion profile here. http://pinnaclegameprofiler.com/foru...ad.php?t=22497

I've been using your first profile since day 1, thanks! These new features should be cool, downloading now. Had I known there were ways to assign different commands to a button based on time pressed, I would've already been on that. Good work.

The quicksave/Escape menu seems to be flawed. Quicksave is activated on the press of F5 and not the release, causing the game to quicksave just before the Escape menu comes up. I'm trying to see if I can't find a work around for this.

this is the only way i can make this work. i had to combine these commands in order to free up a button for the wait command. however it doesent bother me that the game will quick save when you open the game menu. i would rather it be this way so when i open the menu to exit the game it automaticly quicksaves. perhaps i should ditch the quicksave all together since the game saves when you wait automatacly. quicksave is nice because you can use it anywhere.

Although I still have not had a chance to try this game, I think it's usually best not to assign Quick Save to configurations that are being shared... since many people will try the profile and start pressing buttons and may overwrite a previous save, or just may not understand where the saves are even coming from. I certainly like to include "Quick Save" and "Quick Load" commands in the command set, so if someone wants to make use of them they are there to assign... but I don't "pre-assign" them to configurations I share, even if I have leftover [unassigned] buttons. But of course it's up to you and maybe it makes good sense to use in some games. We all appreciate you sharing all your great profiles cid67, keep up the great work!

I agree that there needs to be a quicksave button as it is nice to use, but I can't have it quicksaving everytime I use the menu. What I did for now was put wait on the sneak button, I find this better for freeing up a spot for a quicksave. What I would like is to have a quicksave and quickload though, enabling me to never even touch the keyboard again.

I have found some good information on maybe finding a way to do this, but unfortunately Beth's software isn't taking kindly to it. The idea is to change the quicksave hotkey from a 'make' scancode to a 'break' scancode. This would allow dual binding to the menu key by having f5 pressed down, but if you hold it esc is activated. When you let go you can't quicksave while in a menu, thus solving the problem. Now the only thing that stands in the way is Bethesda themselves.

I have updated the profile yet again. i changed the way the movement is assigned to stop a problem where the movement would hang ifyou moved the stick forward and then centered it to quickly. hopefully a pinnacle update will fix this problem. its the same problem as this http://www.pinnaclegameprofiler.com/...opic.php?t=502

I keep having difficulty with just talking to a Character it always pop into pick pocket mode. I also find that many of the commands do to many things at once. Switching views alot. I have disabled the file in the default INI. Does anyone else run into the this trouble?

I have not had any of the problems you describe. are you using the xbox 360 controller. if you fail to properly edit the oblivion.ini file than the buttons will not behave properly and will apear as though more than one command is linked to it. make sure you are editing oblivion.ini and not default.ini and be sure to save the edited file overrighting the original oblivion.ini also make sure your controls within oblivion are set to there default values.if anyone else is having the same problem let me know.
