I LOVE this configuration. It is (apart from the neccessary adjustments) a perfect copy of the xbox 360 version of the game.

There's only on ereal niggling issue I have. When I press up (and sometimes down) on the left analog stick when in various menus (conversation, loot, game menu, popup notices etc.) it selects an option, as in it does the same as pressing a on the controller if you were playing the console version.

If possible I'd like to remove this. Could you suggest the best way to do so without messing up the menu scrolling and movement of the character?

Oh, one other thing. It probably can't be done but I was wondering if there was a way to improve the switch of tabs when in the journal because I find when switching past the inventory it will scroll through items sometimes until it gets to the top/bottom of the list and then it will switch to the next tab.

Despite these minor niggles it's an absolutely fantastic config. Hats off to you mate!

Hi guys. Thanks for all your patience and quick replies!

I only recently bought a computer that could handle a modded Oblivion (played on the 360 before) and I was really excited to play it, but found I really missed using a controller. So, I went out and bought an Xbox 360 controller for Windows. I've downloaded the trial version of PGP and I feel like I'm 95% there, but the 5% I'm missing makes the game unplayable.

    I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate (64 bit)
I point PGP at OBSE script extender to launch Oblivion (to play with mods)
I have downloaded and installed Cid's controller profile

    I have 2 issues.

The primary problem is that I cannot get the left joystick to function properly. At one time, I thought everything was working well with the one exception of the left joystick. Pressing it all the way in one direction caused my character to walk instead of run (though a partial push would enable running). I tried to fix this by tweaking but have been unsuccessful. However, the left joystick often doesn't work at all, acting like I only briefly pressed a directional key instead of holding it down.

This brings me to my 2nd problem. It seems like, each time I load the game, my controller behaves differently.

For example, I press "B" on the controller and I go into the in-game menu. I press "B" again to exit (which works) but then my character also jumps in the game. The regular jump function will also cause me to sneak, etc... I'm having 2 commands happen at the same time.

Part of my problem is that this doesn't occur all the time. I'm wondering if I'm creating some sort of conflict with either my operating system or OBSE (Oblivion script extender).

I've edited the .ini to set the joystick value to 0. So, I'm hoping you, or someone else, could address the left analog stick issue specifically.

Thank you for all the effort you've put into this already.

    What necessary adjustments?

RoninGaijin, you should try starting the game when PGP is NOT running and see if the controller is still responding in any way... I suspect that it will be. You may have edited the wrong file, I think there are two similiar files so double-check your location.

Thank you for that! I trusted your wisdom but could not figure out why I only had one .ini file in my Oblivion directory. Turns out, I'm just not familiar with how Windows handles my config files!

There is a default .ini file in Oblivion game root directory, and is called "Oblivion_default.ini". On a Windows machine when the user first starts a game, this file is copied into the user's newly created "My Documents\My Games\Oblivion\" directory as "Oblivion.ini", which is then used for that user. So if you wish to change a setting for all new users, change the default (not recommended), otherwise change your own copy directly under My Documents.

However, even with that finally figured out, the left joystick is still wonky. Pressing it most of the way in one direction clears the viewing area of all information (no life bar or compass) and makes my character stand still. This has been the case since I first installed the game and before I tried PGP (with L-shift = "run" but not working). It makes me think my base setup is flawed, somehow. Any clues?

Well did you get it so that the controller is no longer responding when PGP is not running? It's not clear if these problems are within the profile or could be something else... so make sure the controller is no longer responding when PGP is not running, then we can troubleshoot the profile.

Yes, I have now edited the correct .ini file so that the controller is non-responsive without PGP. With PGP running, it is almost perfect, but the lack of proper joystick function is a hindrance. As I said before, though, I'm not sure it's PGP. When in the game and using the default settings (no PGP), pressing the "run" button (left-shift) causes the screen to clear of information and my character to stop moving. This issue was mentioned earlier in this thread but I could not find a resolution. I guess I'm wondering if you've run into this before?

    Thank you for your help!

Actually... I just encountered some missing meshes in my game, so I'm going to try a fresh installation and see how the controller responds. However, if you happen to know anything about the left joystick/run function issue I mentioned, I'd love to hear about it .

PGP works perfectly with the base installation (no add-ons or mods), so, not sure where the screw up is but it's not with PGP .

    Thanks for your help!
