    Mic jack on Xbox360 controller

Some FPS games like UT2004 has an option for the use of a mic. The xbox360 controller has a mic jack on it, is there a way to set this up to work with a game? Prolly not, but I figure this is as good a place as any to ask.

From what I've heard, plugging a mic into your xbox 360 controller should work as a normal plug-n-play device and will show up as another USB device.

yeah I tried it and it worked. the problem is that the sound will then only come out of the headset and not your speakers. any take on that?

I don't know, I don't even have a mic myself. But I would think there should be a way somehow... even if it was a matter of "live-recording" it so that the sound out of the speakers would be delayed. Again, I don't know, I'm just thinking that if nothing else there is probably some software that could at least do that.

Whenever plugging in a USB Sound device, windows will always change the sound device priority to that device. Once you have plugged in the mic and windows has detected and installed it, it will flip all sound to that device.

Just go to Control Panel - Sounds - Sound Devices - and you get the following window:

Change the TOP option Default sound device to your sound card you want every sound to come from.

Then change the default sound recording to the xbox 360 headset.

Now go to the next tab:

Change both of these sound recording and playback devices to what you want. So in programs like MSN or other programs where voice is used select what you want. So your mic will obviously be the sound recording set to 360 Mic but if you want sound out your speakers set it to the sound card, or if you want it out the headset, set it to the 360 headset.

Now press ok and it should work. Hope this helps ya.
