I would pay for a working chatpad driver

If you and your friends could come up with a driver for the chatpad or make it work in pinnacle I would pay upwards of 50$ for it and I know about a 100 other people who would do the same.

Programming for a hardware driver is a lot different than writing software, and I really don't know anything about writing drivers (other than I know it's difficult). I also suspect this chatpad is particularly difficult to create a driver for (if not impossible) because I think there would have been someone on the Internet that would have created a driver by now if it were reasonably possible. I have a feeling MS has done something to prevent a PC driver to be created (at least by non-MS author)

Hey everybody, there are tons of people out there who want these drivers made as you can see. I just set up a forum to rally us together to hopefully convince Microsoft or, if not, then maybe put together a donation fund and have a third-party driver made. I know it's been a long time since most of these posts were written, but if you're still interested PLEASE just sign up on the forum and make a 2-second post saying you're still interested, you don't have have to confirm your email:

There are legions of people -- especially HTPC (home-theater PC) users -- who need this, and seeing as the Xbox360 controller is arguably the best joystick, I know there are a ton of future possibilities for the chatpad. I would like to develop for it myself, but without ANY way to interface with it, it's a wonderful piece of hardware with no purpose to PC users. Again, please just sign up on the forum link above and let us know that you're one of many who would like to use this.

    THANK YOU!

Hi, I copied your post to the beginning of the forum so people can find it easier... I'm a little doubtful it will help, but maybe if the petition got big enough it could. Anyway, I signed up and made a post on the petition.

Hey guys, another desperate soul looking for a driver!

    Any updates?

I feel there must be a way we can pressure MS into giving us this..

    Make your voices heard!

Over a year ago, I did what everyone else here did. I already had the wireless receiver for my PC and was using Pinnacle and other software to use my xbox controller for HTPC functions and gaming. I thought it would be great to add a functional keyboard to the controller, so I bought the chatpad. The packaging on both the Wireless Receiver ("will work with future accessories": LINK) and the Chatpad lead me to believe that this should work. I was extremely disappointed to find out that this would not work and have been very patient while waiting to see if Microsoft would do something to support this product.

I've looked at what they will try to use as their loop-holes in the product claims. The description for the gaming receiver says it will support future WIRELESS accessories. However, I can connect my wired headset to my wireless controller and it is then supported on my PC. I can even plug in the wired headset THROUGH the chatpad, which is then connected to the controller and it is supported. Quite simply, every other product you could think to use through this receiver will work except for this one. It's ridiculous.

On microsoft's support site for connecting an XBox 360 accessory to a Windows PC, you are referred to XBOX support.LINK - This is very specific. The support link takes you to the xbox support site, the only live, online part of which is their twitter account. I spent an hour going back and forth with their twitter support (which won the Guinness World Record for most responsive - HA!). They questioned why I would want to use the chatpad when I "have a keyboard right in front of me". Ultimately, I was given the mailing address for customer service and told to take up the argument with them.

Here's what I think everyone should do. Power in numbers, right? For starters, it seems to me that they really pride themselves on their twitter support, so I urge everyone to take up the argument on there. The good thing about that is that it's PUBLIC, so if we get a bunch of people complaining about it on there it gets noticed. Also, since the pin-heads over there insisted I mail their customer service department I'm going to do just that. Typing out a letter about exactly why this issue makes all of us feel cheated. Just trying to decide how many to print and mail (20... 30?) ... I'm not normally one to try and be annoying. I actually work in customer service myself, but this is just unbelievable.

So please, everyone please do something to make our voices heard. The more people we get annoying the hell out of all their support branches, the more likely it is we'll get a real response. Call their support lines, email, twitter, snail-mail. Lets make some people over at Micro$oft feel as frustrated as we are.

I'm also posting this over at the Xbox360 Chatpad Driver Community Forum. If I can find anywhere else that lots of people have gathered over this issue I'll do the same.

the madcatz keyboard works perfectly fine, however it clips to the top of the ps3 controller, and you have to run another cord to the computer. It has awkward positioning up there, making it difficult to use unlike the very well designed but horribly implemented xbox 360 chat pad. but as for the chat pad.
