Max Payne 2 stopped working

It was working fine, when I first set up the profile, but when I tried to open it the next day, it no longer worked.

I updated pinnacle and the profile started working again, that was last night.

Just now I tried to play again and it is no longer working.

All my other profiles work fine, but MP2 will not work anymore. I've deleted the profile and re-installed it, along with updates, but it does not work.

I'm half way through the game and I tried to use K&M, but I can't do it. I have nerve damage in my left hand, which makes it very uncomfortable and awkward for me to play PC games without a gamepad, and that is why Pinnacle has been such an awesome thing for me.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks

I have a feeling maybe you are doing something with your "compatibility mode" settings that are causing your games to run as admin or something like that. If the game is running as admin, then PGP also must run as admin, otherwise UAC will block the signals from reaching the game. Try right-clicking on Pinnacle's icon and select "run as administrator" to see if that helps. Also you can try going to GAME PROFILES > EDIT and enabling the "launch as persistent profile" setting.

Ok, I'll try that, though I haven't made any changes to what I was doing and I have been running everything as a persistent profile.

Alright, 'run as administrator' got it working. Any reason why I have to run it like that now? Literally, I was using Pinnacle, stopped playing, put computer to sleep, next day tried to play and now this.

Well, the reason has nothing to do with Pinnacle... somehow your game is running as administrator (and therefore you must run PGP as administrator too, otherwise PGP cannot get it signals to your game). There could be any number of reasons that your game is running as administrator, there are lots of options on the shortcut's properties and setting XP Compatibility mode to your game will do that too. Most likely it was always doing that and maybe PGP wanted to apply an update the first time you played it and thus was already in administrator mode.

Must have been the update, cause I had played through the entirety of MP1 and half of MP2, then it updated and stopped working.

Thanks for the help, I just finished MP2, such a good game, amazing writing, and plays really well with the profiles you guys have made.
