advpack.dll access denied on install
hello,
im reinstalling pgp on a new drive and during install i get the error advpack.dll access denied. something along those lines
if I choose the to ignore another error follows, shfolder.dll access denied.
any insight is appreciated. I tried system restore, and even running an upgrade install to repair any possible corruption to .dll files. nothing is working.
However if i choose ignore, the program seems to install, recognizes a ps3 controller, but doesnt seem to see any input from the controller.
Please help.
Thanks.

Hmmm... I think maybe that somehow those files were locked by some other program. I wouldn't worry about it though because those files should already exist in Windows, they are only included in the setup package for users that might not have them (although that would only be for maybe like XP SP1 or something, possibly not even in that case by the setup package includes copies of all files used by the software regardless of if it's expected to already exist).
And the other reason I'd say not to worry about it is because advpack.dll is used to determine if you are running as administrator and shfolder.dll is used to get the location of Windows installation folders (such as "System32" and whatnot). Neither of these things have anything to do with reading the controller. I'd say the problem is something else... so ignoring those errors should be fine.
What driver are you using for your PS3 controller? I'd say you should check to see if it's working properly. You can right-click the PGP icon in the system tray (by the Windows clock) and select 'Game Controllers' from the popup menu to take you into the Windows Control Panel area where you can test your game controllers (use the PROPERTIES button on the window that appears).

Thank You.
I was using ppjoy, but I got rid of that, and I am now using motionjoy driver for ps3. It seems to be recognized now, though I haven't actually played anything.
Is there a particular driver that works best?
Thanks again.

yup, motioninjoy is probably your best bet
