    Arrow Diablo III

Blizzard has been talking about playing Diablo III with a controller and how good it feels for some time now, most likely due to its inevitable console port. Why wait for Blizzard to (maybe) patch controller support into the game? My .pin supports full range of movement on the Left Stick using the mouse spring function and it works like a charm for true click-free movement. Controlling movement this way also means that there doesn't need to be a button assigned for Mouse 1 because any time you press the stick in any direction Mouse 1 is already being pressed and held. So now the "stand your ground" button (L Shift) turns into your fire key. Pull the Right Trigger and push the Left Stick in the general direction of the bad guys and your character will stop in their tracks and start attacking anything in their path. This layout was put together to play with my witch doctor, how it will work for other champions remains to be seen but I would imagine it will work with little trouble. This layout doesn't really work in the menus, but I prefer to use my mouse in the menus anyway. Over the next couple days I'm going to add some more commands as well as force feedback for each individual skill button (1-4) to give each of them their own unique rumble when fired so you have some tactile feedback when firing off your spells. Blizzard was right, it does feel great!

Update: I went back in an added all the remaining commands including the emotes. Now everything available to you on your KB/M should be available to you on your controller.

    Diablo III

I found them all to be incomplete but maybe i`m being fussy wanting to access all skills or having potions on left joystick button, as one person actually did, or having right shoulder as mouse button as i find right shoulder trigger difficult to click. Oh and btw, if while stood still you want to start firing(left mouse)should you just try and run off in a random direction??

Could you elaborate on what you mean by wanting access to all the skills and having potions on the left stick button (I already have healing potions bound to the left stick button)? What do you mean by running off in a random direction? I'm pretty new to Diablo so maybe some of the gameplay nuances are lost on me.

Hello toddmd2 great looking profile you got there, I really do love what you've done. However I have an idea and thats on the left analog stick which you've assigned to move, instead of placing eight directions to the Click and Hold for move, why not go in the same advanced window you went to and disable the eight directions. Leave the joystick command style to the four directions and above on that same window thats marked Advanced Joystick Assignments check the box Tilted Over @ 1% and assign the Click and Hold to it, thats an easier way and works fantastic. Try it out and you can give me a feedback to the idea. If it don't work you can always go back the way you have it.

Thanks for the feedback Errol, I'm glad you like my profile. I tried switching from eight to four directions, but it seemed like the movement wasn't as smooth as the eight direction setting. I did incorporate your "tilt over 1%" idea, it makes for a more elegant solution and works every bit as good. I made a couple tweaks to the profile in general. I found that with the way I had character movement set up it was damn near impossible to pick up things off the ground or access weapon racks and such. So I moved the Stand Ground function back to the left trigger and reassigned Click and Hold to the right trigger, that way you can now pick up items on the ground and access weapon racks and such.

I went back and experimented with force feedback also, but seeing as that you don't really hold the action buttons down for very long the FF was unnoticeable. Other than that I think the profile is just about done unless anyone else has any feedback.

Hi, i'm glad to hear you've changed the profile although i haven't tried it. It sounds like you've assigned right trigger to click and hold. I do actually use your profile with my minor alterations . I removed the left mouse click from left joystick directions(for automatic movement) and had right shoulder for left mouse click. I prefer shoulder to trigger as i find it (personally) easier to click rapidly, whether it makes any difference clicking fast would be interesting to know. This way it feels and plays just like in game where you are continuously clicking to move out of the way, when it just wants to stop and fight (sigh), and pick up stuff etc etc. Also left joystick button health(potions)removed as i was using potions up when i was under stress and pressing to hard. Assigned to right joystick button.

Glad you like it. The more I monkey around with my profile the more I think I prefer to pull and hold the trigger to move. While moving using only the stick is nice, during combat it can get a bit hairy with Tingtang my witch doctor not disengaging from an enemy when I need him to due to the fact that aiming with the left stick means the left mouse button is always being clicked. Manually controlling the clicking eliminates the wonkyness.

I think it`s actually set up for x-box controller although you could just make your own profile from copying toddmd2 profile but may take you an hour or 3 if you have never done it before.;(
