quake was and still is a classic game, if you never played it, get it from steam, then follow the instructions on the page to get it working with the steam version

downloading the full installer now, been a while since I last played this awesome game, so thanks for the heads up

Hi Matthew I downloaded the full version late last year before it was posted by Mystieus and is playing the The Dark Places at this present time. For an old game its awesome with its graphics and even gameplay. I have to agree with you when you say its a classic game. I played it back in 2001 and its only now with the new pack addon I've started playing again.

if you want the music for the game, I suggest googling or visiting the steam forums, not really sure if I can link to the music downloads, as its a bit of a grey area, as the steam version doesn't include the music, but there is a link in the quake FAQ on the steam forums, that does link to the music

then you create some extra folders in the ID1 folder
    sound/cdtracks
and place the ogg or wave files there

    works fine

going to give this game a fair bit of time, not played the game in ages, I do own the orginal game, but its the dos version and won't really install, (there is a windows version that I think uses glquake exe) but darkplaces is a far better engine, and probably one of the most faithful to the original engine

so anyone not got the game, grab it from steam, as least you don't have to mess around too much getting it working

and that compilation thats been linked does include some extra content as well, so check the readme files to get them working

otherwise enjoy quake at its stunning best
