    Controller Review: NyKo iType2

If you were into online gaming in the PS2 days, you probably heard of the Nyko iType -- a controller that has a built-in keyboard.

...I searched high and low for a US store that has them; but, no luck. I finally found a UK-based vendor that sold it shipped for about $25. It took about 4 days to get to my door (which is better than many US sellers).

The first thing I noticed was that the end of the cord had both a PS2 adapter, and a USB plug. I plugged in the USB plug, and Windows 7 detected it as a keyboard -- I then plugged the PS2 adapter into an old PS2 to USB adapter I had laying around, and windows 7 picked it up as a game controller.

Surely I thought, 'it can't be this easy,' something has to be wrong... I fired up pinnacle, and Pinnacle picked it up immediately as a 'twin joystick controller.' I went into collaborate the controls just to make sure everything was working as it should -- and yep, Pinnacle is picking up the controller just as it would any PS2 controller, and windows is continuing to recognize the keyboard as if it were a standard USB keyboard.

I can sit here an type how the controller has 4 easily setup macro buttons, and how the keyboard is well-spaced and 'roomy' with a pretty solid grip and a good DPAD; but, that's irrelevant, since there are other controllers out there that have all that.

Just FYI for those of us who refuse to sit up while gaming!

Hi, I'm new to PGP and forums in general but just HAD to post after seeing this controller. I've played FFXI for years (~8 +/-) and World of Warcraft for not quite as long (~3 years +/-) and the ONE thing that I get pissy about with WoW is the lack of controller support. A few days ago I stumbled onto a link to PGP and checked it out. I was stoked! So, needless to say I have spent more time these past few days reading forums, seeking out profiles, and just generally trying to get adept enough to configure my own profile. I'd be in heaven if there were a way to make macro'd action bars that pop up at the pull of a trigger so that you can bump to the action of your choice and hit the ol' execute button like in FFXI, but not saavy enough to even begin to know how that would be accomplished. I believe this controller just might be the next best thing! I have never seen (or even imagined) one like it. So, ultimately, what I wanted to say was.... THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR SHARING THIS!! Now to see if I can find one.

If you want to do text macros in PGP there is "keyboard type TEXT" event step that allows you to enter a string and have it sent to the screen.
