Instead of clicking and dragging the finder tool. Why not click it to activate, and then something like Alt+P to place the point. That way you could click it to start and then go into the game you are playing and then place the point wherever you need it at. This seems like it would make it a lot easier to use, especially if you're using a different resolution then the one that displays your desktop.

That's a reasonable idea... I will look into it

A workaround that I use is I take a screenshot of the game and use that to figure out the coordinates.
