D-pad doesn't work as illustrated, left joystick doesn't crouch or move freely (instead, the D-pad is controlling movement), and fire weapon/B is actually the X button. What went wrong?
I'm experiencing the exact same problem. I think this profile is broken. If not the profile, the the .set file isn't working as it should. Perhaps it's not compatible with the most recent version of San Andreas and is being overwritten?

Edit: Indeed, it would appear as you start up the game, the .set file is overwritten with defaults. It must be based on an older version (at least not the Steam version) of the game, and therefore the game doesn't recognize it and resets everything to the defaults.

I can now confirm that the profile and .set file which do not work correctly with the Steam release, do in fact work great with the original retail release (version 1.0) of the game. Just make sure you switch from Joypad mode to Mouse + Keyboard mode in the game's control options, because it seems to default to the former.

Those of you with the Steam version (3.0) of the game will be able to use the Pinnacle profile as well, but you will have to manually set up the in-game control options to match the screen shots I've attached. These shots were taken from version 1.0 of the game using the settings file included with the profile, which you cannot use with 3.0. So match these settings in the game, then just load up the profile (.pin file) in Pinnacle and start using your 360 controller with the Steam release of San Andreas! Have fun.

P.S. Although you can't see it in the shots, the "Fire" button is mapped to the left mouse button, aka LMB.

I'm also having problems with the STEAM release (Just bought it last night in the sale). I've imported the .pin file and I've manually entered the config on GTA but it just isn't responding. The right anologue stick isn't moving the camera. Can anyone help?

    I'm using a wired xbox 360 controller.

I might be stating the obvious, but make sure you set the path of the game's .exe to the steam folder. Once I did that everything was fine.

Has anyone figured out how to invert the right analogue stick? Driving me mad.

Bit of time since the last post, but I am kind of stuck with this problem

I love the auto aiming config, but the right joystick on my xbox 360 controller (when mapped to mouse) causes the camera ingame to be inverted (push down - camera goes up)

Is there any way to be able to fix this (gets kinda annoying after a while) - If there isn't a easy fix, I can try to get used to it

Try playing the game without PGP and see if you are having the same problem. If the problem is there, then go into game options and invert mouse movement. That should solve your problem.
